    Larkspur Part II

If you read part 1 you will know that I adore these plants!!! I just keep ordering more and more seeds… so I planted some out this autumn we will see – in disgust at myself for not actually planting enough for my want… I then decided to literally throw some onto wet kitchen roll and put in lock bags ( I have an assortment that I use time and time again for seeds etc…) – I then promptly forgot about them – they are now rescued and what is sort of growing have been transferred into soil / seed compost and are on my ICU shelf of seeds and…

    Birthday Rose

November is my birthday month- I have decided to try to start a new tradition since this gardening malarkey seems to be taking hold of my life 🙂 so this year I asked my children if they would buy me a bare root rose – I chose the one I wanted and where I wanted it from and even gave them a discount code that I had… (who knew that this time of year is IDEAL for ordering and planting bare root roses!) Rose – Roald Dahl Shrub Rose from David Austin It fits/ticks every box that I needed for a rose in a particular area. I also decided that…

    Calla Lilies

These are a new plant / bulb for me – another flower I have ended up falling in love with! Yes I know another… I was given 3 as request gift from my mother when she visited RHS Tatton this year from Harts nursery. We planted them up when got them… (insert picture – they didn’t disappoint – I will collect more over time and have aim to have a vast display! 🙂 CARING FOR YOUR CALLA LILIES In most areas, the foliage will be hit by frost and slightly blackened. This should be cut away. Lift Rhizomes before the first frosts and store them over winter before replanting them…

    Aqualiga

I have never really paid that much attention to these beauties – I certainly don’t think I have ever cut and brought into a vase but you know they are really lovely – I have lots in my garden – my mum also has a lot in her garden and for 2021 I have planted seeds – I am doing a late summer planting and then I plan to do an earlyspring (I say early spring – I will watch the temps and light as I found 2020 people said oh sow in Feb… but to be honest I found waiting a few weeks more was better it was just…

    Astrantia

This is an all time favourite flower for me – especially in bunches this year 2020- I didn’t actually grow these myself but my mum has quite a few plants dotted around her garden – they come in a variety of reds, pinks and whites. 2021 they are must grow in my garden – my usual pots for this year as well – I have been debating with myself should I grow from seed I currently have about 4 different seed packets in my basket from Chiltern Seeds (not advert or sponsor just somewhere I buy seeds from). I am also debating if I should order plugs – I am…

    Dahlias

So NGL is still one of my favourite sayings (Not Gonna Lie) – I fell out of love with Dahlias for various reasons – they are difficult to grow – they get all sort of beasties – they also succumb to rain damage in the bud stage or petal stage – the tubers are tricky customers to store and sort eyes and all that malarkey… needless to say I managed to kill all the ones I had… I shrugged and went you know what not for me – and then a friend via Instagram sent me some in a seed swap – seed dahlia – well nothing to lose give…

    End July

Well weather – more eye rolling – we have had a couple of weeks of intense heat – so yup you guessed it – frazzled plants as I just couldn’t keep on top of the sun and heat where my plants were. Full sun on the packet doesn’t mean full sun at 30 degrees for several weeks. Anyway this week looks a little cooler and I WILL – AM tidying a little to re-organise the garden and hopefully get some organisation into the total chaos – I usually check everything with “him in doors” just because I do really no other reason – anyway he was out! yup out out…
