June Bunches

The first post I did for this in April was called Bouquet Practice I am going to change the name to Bunches as Bouquet sounds a little grand for what I am doing and I love the name posies but not sure that’s generic enough – I also like the word fafferie so may call it June Fafferie – July Fafferie – And I may add Faerie to the end so it would be June Fafferie Faerie – I don’t know I like both of those to be honest like a monthly update…?

Wrapped bunch of flowers - homegrown - geraniums - forgetmenots - nigella - sedum

Anyway the faffing with the flowers is back on… Friday 4 June saw my first bunch of homegrown flowers get bunched up – wrapped (in a fashion!!!) and sent with Girl Child (going to a friends for BBQ party) for the hosts mum.

On a side note if you haven’t read that part of the journey – I started this flower growing malarkey on purpose to be able to do that – and with desire to be able to do it well – not to sell or be a flower farmer or florist – just grow enough to be able to wander around and pick a bunch of gorgeousness and give it as ‘Thank you for having me’…

So lessons on bunches – I didn’t find it easy – seeing what you have and getting something from them that doesn’t look like an after thought – the wrap certainly helps take it to the next level start to come to life for me. I am not sure why I didn’t think of this as I have picked flowers before for myself and had to deal with the bugs – but somehow it didn’t really enter my thought process and no-body in all this growing / giving / selling malarkey seems to have mentioned it yet… ummmm – lets see.

Because of the above mentioned critters mainly greenfly in this case the star of the show that was going to be Cerinthe as it really adds pop with its gorgeous purple jewel colour to it didn’t get to make the bunch. Its a personal thing but if I can help it I don’t want to knowingly give or sell flowers with onboard lodgers to people.

In case you are wondering why I am now talking about selling when I said I started to grow to give – well lots of reasons but one is I spent more on this than I started out thinking I would spend and now… I feel like I need to make some of it back… Anyway will anyone actually buy them – no idea I mean its ok posting all over social media and everyone going oh they are lovely etc… but actually parting with hard cash is another thing entirely.
